November 14 - 17!

Hello Parents!

Another great week here in Grade 3! Report cards go live next week so we have been collecting evidence of learning, wrapping up a few topics of study and spending time making great learning memories!

I was SO proud of their social studies quiz on Tuesday. I could tell they put a lot of hard work into studying! WOW! Amazing job! We took time to celebrate together what a great effort that was.

Our hike was a HUGE success. The kiddos walked over 5000 steps and most of them chose to climb up a huge coulee that was level with the high level bridge! Such great memories! The students had the task of looking for evidence of the impact of plants, animals and humans on the earth's surface. We had a great discussion back in the classroom afterwards as we saw some REALLY cool evidence of impact like the abandoned coal mines, sewer drainage, bridges, animal homes, dead animals, etc!

We also got our FISH this week! We've added 5 guppies to our living system. One female and four males. The kiddos named them: Lemon, Orange, Crush, Joey and Fantastic Mr. Fish. We learned about their behavior's and fin types and then took time identifying the kinds we have and named them. Our female is currently pregnant and they have LIVE births, so there are exciting times (and most likely, tragedies) ahead.

The CBC music challenge was fantastic. I was so proud of all of their effort, attention and overall performance. One of the students said "wow, this is a once in a lifetime experience!" and it was! As soon as the video is edited I will make it available to you!

Picture retakes were canceled due to malfunctioning equipment. I will send out the date for the next one as soon as I hear more.

We were spoiled for Gordon's birthday with a beautiful lunch from his family (which ended up feeding 100 people - no joke). Thank you so much for the incredible Chinese food!

We wrapped up our place value unit and we will be working on adding and subtracting as of next week. The kiddos have done great and have shown great growth in their confidence and skills.

Next week:

Tuesday: We will be learning about Diwali with the Patel family! I am so excited to have them come and share with us.

Learning Commons is Tuesday - please help us get our books back to school :).

Wednesday: Outdoor school in the afternoon around the neighborhood this week!

Friday: Report cards go live online. I will be away and Mrs. Dosso will be in covering for me.
