The Start of THREE!

Hello Grade 3 Parents!

We made it! We're here and live online. It's been the biggest joy meeting many of you over the first days of school and an absolute treasure getting to know your kiddos. Give me a few more weeks of learning your names, and I hope to have it all locked in. I have to say, this is a VERY special group of kids and already such a rich community. I am so thankful!

Here's a few things you need to know as we get into this third week of school.

1. Senior choir messaging has gone out via school messenger. Many students expressed interest in our group. Please take time to sign up if you'd like your child to participate!

2. The Terry Fox Run is next Thursday afternoon (the 21st). We are collecting digital "Toonies for Terry" via school cash. Sorry for the inconvenience - we are a cash free school! Here's the link: https://schools.terryfox.ca/30782

3. I sent out an important outdoor school notice via email. Please make sure you have a look :).

4. I am looking for 30 nickels to help us with some graphing work this week. If anyone has some spare change we could borrow or that could be donated to our class we would so appreciate it!

5. Every first Friday of the month is a Plaxton Pride Friday! Feel free to wear school colors or school swag. Hoodies and t-shirts can be purchased and sent to our school with the free shipping code 'Plaxton22' - here's the link! Online Store | Custom Clothing (customclothingstore.ca)

6. We are hoping to bring a stone to school on Monday. Take some time to get outside this weekend and enjoy the sunshine and set your kiddo off to find a special stone (it should be able to fit in the palm of you child's hand). A great excuse to enjoy the sun and head out into the wild!

In the following pictures you will see LOTS of the things we've been up to in the past 10 days. Get your child to tell you all about them. Some of the learning concepts we've been covering include: data (numeracy), mapping (social studies) and our first time outdoor learning. We've been spending lots of time getting to know each other and our space and exploring stories, ideas and our classroom. I hope you enjoy and as always, if you have any questions or feedback or are in need of anything at all, please feel free to reach out!
