March 8th!

Hello Everyone,

The weeks are flying and it's only going to get faster! Don't forget this weekend is daylight savings! I encouraged everyone to get to bed earlier this weekend so it's not as much of a shock on the system come Monday :).

Report cards are LIVE today! I've tried to include helpful details and feedback on your child's progress. Please take the time to login to PowerSchool and check them out!

This week was an awesome week! The printer continues to be endless moments of enjoyment. A "robotics club" has manifested as a result of all the part rebuilding. It's been pretty cool to see their ideas and creativity. The kiddos get a chance to work on it when they are done eating and before the recess bell rings. Or before announcements start at 8:45 in the morning.

Aunty Jo (my close family friend) has been helping us with crochet club. She came in this week with scrunchies for all the girls - they loved it!

Mars month launched on Monday. Thank you for the supplies! We received what we needed, so thanks again!

We started badminton and that's been a blast!

For outdoor school we read an article on the benefits of bird feeders and then looked at the 39 most common birds in North America. The students did a great job creating feeders independently and then we hung some around our school yard - hoping to attract more birds!

We wrapped up Tunisia with a wonderful surprise from Ibraheem's family. Raeda (Ibraheem's mom) made us falafels and the kiddos really enjoyed them. It was a first for many of them (but a long time favorite of mine). Don't ask how many I had :). Ibraheem was proud to share more of who he is with us. What a gift!

We also had a brain building presentation every day this week. They were incredible and engaging learning sessions with lots of games with connected brain benefits. The QR code that was sent home yesterday was not working correctly so the presenters said they would send us a new one this coming week - yay!

We stayed out for a loooongggg recess Thursday afternoon and soaked up some sun. Good for our bodies, brains and friendships it was awesome to see all the creative play and smiles. We needed that after some friendship road blocks, freezing cold indoor recesses and lack of sun!

Friday we got to celebrating Cali turning 9 - hurray!

Next week:

Tuesday: Mars Month Lesson! Bring back your library books too!

Thursday: We are running a Friday schedule so that we can start parent/teacher interviews. Pick up time is 11:30 am! Interviews run from 12:30 - 4:00 - sign up online if you'd like to meet. At 5:30 p.m. the celebration of learning begins! Show up anytime between 5:30 - 7:30 (well, it ends at 7:30) to be part of our CELEBRITEA WRITING CELEBRATION! The kiddos have been working (painstakingly) and enthusiastically for this night of celebrating on their information books.

Call out: Do you have any tea cups we could borrow? There will be tea at this celebrity night and I would love to be able to borrow some (not heirloom, highly precious) tea cups! Mismatched would be lovely... think Alice in Wonderland, not tea with the Queen. I am inviting the kids to dress up like "celebrities" in fancier clothes and sunglasses! There will be some paparazzi and snacks too! I am really looking forward to this special night of celebrating all their writing progress!

Friday: Teachers are in Professional Learning - NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS!

*Please complete the permission click for our Theatre field trip! We only need that one for this month :).
