Hello Families and Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

I am super thankful for each of you and your wonderful children who make MY day full of laughter and joy.

It's been another great week, so fast and fun in fact that there are very few photos! They say time flies when you're having fun :).

I was away sick on Monday afternoon and Tuesday and was thrilled to hear back from our substitutes that our class was helpful and lovely and hard working. WOW!

We've done our first persuasive writing piece which I will post next week on the blog when they are all finished - it was very well done! We also got our laptops up and running and got onto our epic book library and tried out math prodigy. You should have received a letter (very large letter), with logins for prodigy that you could try at home. It is a great math resource and the kiddos really seem to enjoy it. We do not have a lot of opportunities to be on tech, and it is definitely a tool we use sparingly and meaningfully, but it was good to get some practice in this week and get logged onto those important sites.

We added more things to our living system tank (with many squeals and shouts). The students are loving the opportunity to participate in this learning activity! It's been a blast so far.

The students made a special gratitude project today to share with you at the dinner table this week. Whether you celebrate big or small, or not at all taking a few moments to have them lead you through their project will be very meaningful for them :).

Coming up next week:

Monday - no school - Happy Thanksgiving! And for those celebrating other festivals this weekend, happy festival time!

Tuesday - Rose's (class) birthday and Learning Commons! Please make sure books come back to school.

***Wednesday - PICTURE DAY - (they bumped our date, we are now Wednesday morning). We will also have outdoor school in the afternoon.

Thursday - our first CREATURE will be added to our living system, if the water PH permits!

Friday: Mason's (class) birthday!

- as per our birthday tradition we will celebrate their birthday in the morning before first recess with a birthday circle and birthday card. You are welcome to send a snack to share or come and join us. Email me if you have any questions!

Here's a few other October things to keep in mind:

Our next Outdoor Learning Field Trip is Wednesday October 18th.  Please read this letter I emailed to you today for more details.

Our Learning Commons is hosting the Scholastic Book Fair from October 23rd - 27th.  Come check it out!

- There will be NO SCHOOL for students from Wednesday October 25th - 27th for Staff Professional Learning and Parent Teacher Interviews.  Please watch for information from the school with how to book an interview on October 25th!  I am looking forward to connecting with you about your amazing children!

Halloween is on a Tuesday this year.  Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school, and we will be having a schoolwide costume Parade (time TBA).  If you would like to provide a snack for our class party, please let me know!

Questions, comments? Reach out, don't be shy!

Have a wonderful weekend and for all those sick and recovering from colds and flus, I hope you have a restful and healing weekend, we are missing those kiddos!

Love,

Ms. M
